Neighboring Kamaole II, this is yet another excellent beach for families and ocean activities.
Kamaole Beach Park III
Kamaole Beach Park III, often referred to as Kam III, is one of the three adjacent beach parks known as the Kamaole Beach Parks, located in Kihei in South Maui. Kam III is a popular destination for beachgoers, known for its beautiful shoreline, family-friendly atmosphere, and a range of activities.
Kam III is a less than 5 minute drive south from Auntie Snorkel Kihei. It’s easily accessible and conveniently located near various accommodations, restaurants, and shops.
Parking and Access
There is a dedicated parking lot for Kam III right off of South Kihei Rd, across from the Haleakala Shores Condominium. The lot is large with 84 spaces.
There is also some gravel shoulder street side parking at the far south end of the park.
Access to the beach is relatively easy with multiple walkways available.
***Paid Parking Coming Soon.*** In early summer 2026, Maui County plans to launch the Park Maui program, which will institute a fee for non-Hawaii resident parking at all of the Kamaole Beach Parks.
Parking revenue will be reinvested into transportation, infrastructure, and community improvements.

Facilities and Amenities
The beach park offers various amenities, including lifeguards, restrooms, showers, and picnic facilities, making it a convenient spot for a full day at the beach.
Kam III is particularly family-friendly due to its safe swimming conditions and amenities catering to visitors with children.
Beach chairs and umbrellas are must-haves at Kamaole III.

Kam III is one of the better locations among the Kamaole Beach Parks for snorkeling. The southern end of the beach has rocky areas that are home to colorful fish and marine life, making it a popular spot for snorkelers.
On calm mornings, stand-up paddle boarding is a great option at Kam III. The long stretch of all 3 Kamaole beaches to the north make for a beautiful paddle. Just be aware that the wind can pick up strongly and quickly from late morning through the day, so the earlier you go out the better.
There can be some elevated surf with summer south swells. This will impede snorkeling but can sometimes make for fun boogie boarding. Just be sure to exercise plenty of caution, and if in doubt, don’t go out!

Environment and Seasonal Variation
Kam III Beach features soft, golden sand and beautiful views. It offers a peaceful setting with a grassy area, shade trees, and picnic tables, providing a suitable spot for picnicking, relaxation, and beachfront activities.
Kam III is calm and beautiful most mornings year round. It is common for the wind to become strong and gusty from the middle of the day, so this beach is best early.
Responsible tourism practices, such as proper disposal of trash and the use of reef-safe sunscreen, can contribute to the long-term conservation of this stunning coastal environment on Maui.
It’s important for visitors to respect the local rules and regulations, including not touching or damaging the coral, not collecting or harassing marine life, and not disturbing the natural habitat.
Remember to respect the natural beauty and environment of Kamaole Beach Park III by leaving no trace and following any posted rules and regulations. Kam III, along with its neighboring Kam I and Kam II Beaches, is a popular destination for those seeking a relaxed and enjoyable beach experience on Maui’s southwest coast. Whether you’re looking to snorkel, paddle, swim, picnic, or savor a beautiful sunset, Kam III provides a fun and family-friendly setting for beachgoers of all ages.
About
Auntie Snorkel
Auntie Snorkel shop has been serving Maui’s fun seekers since 1985. We're the original South Maui Snorkel Shop. When I bought the shop 10 years ago from Auntie, we decided to keep the name. The name "Auntie" is a term of respect here in Hawaii. I'm living my dream. I get to meet awesome people from all over the world and share with them my love and knowledge of this magical island that I get to call home. We know all the spots. I have lived here since 2001. We're the true definition of a family owned and operated shop. I answer the phones and work the shop along with my family. When you shop with us you're supporting my ohana and for that I thank you!! Why go anywhere else? We're the friendliest, fastest, cheapest and our location is the most epic! Mahalo and Aloha”. ~Mark Noble (Owner & Maui Fun Expert)
Great place to grab rentals for the beach. Jake and Art provided what we needed based off what we said we were hoping to do at the beach. They also gave us a map and showed us the best places to ride waves, see turtles and see the best sunset.

Great place to get your beach gear. Staff is cheerful and friendly. It's very easy to reserve your stuff online and quickly pick it up at the store. Dave helped us to find the best floaties for the kids and as a freebie we got a boogie board, which was fun to try.
