- Hamoa Beach is located about 10 minutes from Hana town on the eastern coast of Maui. It’s relatively isolated and accessed via the famous Hana Highway, a scenic and winding road that offers panoramic views of the island’s lush landscapes. From Auntie Snorkel Kihei, your drive straight there will be approximately 2.5 hours.
Parking and Access
- Hamoa Beach offers parking along the narrow street, but please be attentive to any posted street signs indicating parking regulations.
- Hamoa Beach is surrounded by cliffs, and has 2 access paths. One is via stairs leading down from the hotel shuttle drop off, and the other is a small, steep service road at the other end that you may walk down (please don’t drive it!). Some areas may be closed from time to time for maintenance, so please pay attention to posted signage.
Facilities and Amenities
- This beach does have portable toilets, a shaded pavilion with picnic tables, and a foot shower.
- There are no lifeguards at this beach. Exercise caution, and if in doubt, don’t go out!
What to Bring
- Bring the whole family and everything you want for full beach day! Auntie recommends boogie boards, floatation, umbrellas, beach chairs, and snacks.
Snorkeling and Surf
- Hamoa Beach has a consistent and well-formed shore break, which creates excellent waves for experienced bodysurfers and boogie boarders.
