Baldwin Beach Park is a popular and family-friendly beach park located on the North Shore of Maui. It’s known for its long stretch of golden-white sand, beautiful views, and proximity to the charming town of Pa’ia.
Baldwin Beach Park is situated just outside the town of Pa’ia, approximately a 30 minute drive from Auntie Snorkel Kihei.
Parking and Access
From Hana Hwy heading east, turn left at the Baldwin Park sign. Drive along the narrow roadway to a large parking lot beachside. This lot is frequently full, and overflow parking is along the roadway. For best parking (and beach conditions) plan for an early arrival.
Baldwin Beach main parking lot is just a short walk away from the beautiful beach.
The beach is easy to access straight from the parking lot.
Facilities and Amenities
The park offers amenities such as restrooms, outdoor showers, and free parking. You’ll find a shady pavilion with picnic tables, but it is often full with the seasonal movement of sand!
Lifeguards are often on duty, providing an added layer of safety and assistance to beachgoers.
What to Bring
Bring the whole family and everything you want for full beach day! Auntie recommends boogie boards, floatation, umbrellas, beach chairs, a wagon to carry it all, and snacks from nearby Pa’ia for a picnic.

Snorkeling and Surf
The waters at either end of the beach are typically calm, especially in summer months, thanks to natural offshore reefs, making each end of Baldwin an ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, and playing in the ocean.
The protected swimming area at the far western end, known to locals as Baby Beach, provides a nice environment for children and novice swimmers. Also, the far eastern end, known as Baldwin Cove, offers a sheltered bit of calmer ocean. However, conditions can vary, so it’s essential to be cautious.
The beach’s shore break creates small to moderate waves, making it an excellent spot for boogie boards or bodysurfing for those with some ocean experience. Still, conditions can change quickly and currents can be strong, especially with incoming winter swells, so always be aware of the local forecast and conditions.
Environment and Seasonal Variation
The beach at Baldwin Beach Park offers a lengthy and wide shoreline of soft golden-white sand, and picture-perfect vistas of the West Maui Mountains.
Summer months can bring calm, flat ocean conditions that make the beach park more suitable for family beach days. In contrast, winter months bring large, powerful surf. Visitors should be aware of their own skill levels and adhere to safety guidelines. Lifeguards are present to assist and provide information.
It’s important for visitors to respect the local rules and regulations, including not touching or damaging the natural formations, not collecting or harassing marine life, and not disturbing the natural habitat.
Remember to respect the natural beauty and environment of Baldwin Beach Park by leaving no trace and following any posted rules and regulations. Baldwin Beach Park is a versatile and family-friendly destination, offering a range of activities and amenities to cater to different interests. Whether you’re interested in swimming, picnicking, boogie boarding, or simply enjoying the beach, Baldwin Beach provides a picturesque and welcoming setting on the northern coast of Maui.
About
Auntie Snorkel
Auntie Snorkel shop has been serving Maui’s fun seekers since 1985. We're the original South Maui Snorkel Shop. When I bought the shop 10 years ago from Auntie, we decided to keep the name. The name "Auntie" is a term of respect here in Hawaii. I'm living my dream. I get to meet awesome people from all over the world and share with them my love and knowledge of this magical island that I get to call home. We know all the spots. I have lived here since 2001. We're the true definition of a family owned and operated shop. I answer the phones and work the shop along with my family. When you shop with us you're supporting my ohana and for that I thank you!! Why go anywhere else? We're the friendliest, fastest, cheapest and our location is the most epic! Mahalo and Aloha”. ~Mark Noble (Owner & Maui Fun Expert)

Callie was very helpful and friendly getting us set up with snorkel gear right when the shop was closing for the day. They checked the weather for us and made recommendations for where we should go the following day. Gear worked great and the beach we were sent to was easy to access with lots of fish and a sea turtle. Highly recommend.

Excellent customer service! They provided everything I needed for a seamless experience. Also, if it’s whale season, ask to rent the binoculars for amazing whale sight seeing!
