Here’s a closer look at some of the top activities and special events this fall that you won’t want to miss.
Activities
Dolphin (and Early Whale) Watching
While the peak season for humpback whale watching typically runs from December to April, the fall season is when these magnificent creatures begin to make their way back to Maui’s warm waters. Although sightings are not as frequent as in the winter months, there’s still a chance to spot the first whales of the season in late fall. Catching sight of an early Humpback Whale is an extra thrill! Dolphin watching, on the other hand, is a year-round activity, and the calm fall seas offer perfect conditions for spotting pods of spinner dolphins frolicking near the shores.
Snorkel Tours
Fall is an excellent time to explore Maui’s underwater world, as the ocean conditions are typically calm, and the water clarity is at its best. Snorkel tours are a popular way to experience the island’s vibrant coral reefs and abundant marine life. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced snorkeler, there are tours available to suit all skill levels.
Calypso’s Molokini Tour shines in the fall season, offering an unbeatable snorkeling experience amidst ideal conditions. During this time, the weather in Maui is pleasantly warm, and the waters around Molokini Crater are often calm and clear, providing optimal visibility for exploring the vibrant underwater world. Fall’s smaller crowds make for a more intimate and enjoyable adventure, allowing guests to fully appreciate the spectacular marine life without the hustle of peak season. With Calypso’s expert crew guiding the way, you can dive into the crystal-clear waters of the sunken volcanic caldera and witness an array of colorful coral and tropical fish in a serene environment. Additionally, the fall season’s mild weather and lower winds make the boat ride more comfortable, enhancing the overall experience of this exceptional snorkeling tour.
