What Is Sit Down Paddle Boarding?
Sit down paddle boarding is a kayak-style experience with the ease of a wide, stable paddle board. We convert one of our quality stand-up paddle boards into a sit-down, kayak-style setup using a double-bladed kayak paddle.
You get the stability of a paddle board with the comfort and control of kayaking. No standing up and balancing required. No huge kayak to lug around. No experience needed. Just sit, paddle, and cruise.
This option is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the ocean at a relaxed pace or prefers sitting rather than standing.
Why Rent a Sit Down Paddle Board from Auntie Snorkel?
• Ideal for beginners and casual paddlers.
• More comfortable than standing for long distances..
• Easy to use in calm coastal waters.
• Great for sightseeing, wildlife spotting, and mellow exploration.
• Perfect for couples, families, and first-time paddlers.
Our Fun Specialists can help you decide if a sit down paddle board kit or a traditional stand-up paddle board kit is the better fit for your day.

More About Sit Down Paddle Board Rentals
I’ll be honest with you, sit down paddle boarding (kayak-style) has quickly become one of my absolute favorite ways to spend time on the water! I’ve been doing ocean stuff my whole life, and there’s something about this setup that just feels easy, peaceful, and really fun in a low-stress way. No rushing, no balancing act, just sitting back and enjoying Maui from the water. That’s a pretty great way to spend a morning.
One of my favorite things to do lately is take my goldendoodle, Basil, out with me along the West Maui coast. She plops herself right on the board like she owns it, ears flapping in the breeze, watching the shoreline roll by. We cruise over calm water, spot turtles popping up for air, and just take it all in. It’s mellow, it’s beautiful, and it reminds me why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.
That’s what I love most about sit down paddle boarding. It’s accessible. You don’t have to be an athlete or have perfect balance to enjoy it. You can take your time, paddle a short distance, or just float and soak it all up. Whether you’re paddling solo, with a partner, or bringing a four-legged co-pilot like Basil, it’s one of the easiest ways to connect with Maui’s coastline.
If you’re on the fence about standing up versus sitting down, this is a great option. It’s comfortable, stable, and lets you focus on the scenery instead of your footing. Stop by the shop and we’ll get you set up. I think once you try it, you’ll see why it’s become a favorite around here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“My husband and I went to Auntie Snorkel and we were helped by a very nice man named Scott. I was very uncomfortable about paddle boarding and Scott was very good about answering my questions and helping to ease my concerns. I would recommend Auntie Snorkel to anyone who is just learning or has questions. The helpful staff really makes all the difference.”

Important Restrictions for Sit Down Paddle Board Rentals in Lahaina:
• Inexperienced paddlers over 250 pounds will find the sport more challenging.
• Afternoon trade winds make paddle boarding in the afternoon difficult. When making plans, arrange to paddle board earlier in the day.
• Guests must be able to carry 20 lbs to transport the board into and out of the water. Our Fun Specialists can help you strap the board securely to your car, and teach you how to do it, too.
