I had never tried swimming in the ocean before and was about to try snorkeling for the first time. So I was a little nervous. The lady who was... helping us(I think her name was Callie) briefed me on the basics and strongly encouraged safer practices like going earlier in the day when tide is lower, and taking a life jacket for safety, and avoiding adventurous things of I'm not confident. She suggested I start at the baby beach, which is where beginners practice. It was a perfect suggestion! I loved it there the moment I dipped my head into water, and ended up snorkeling there for hours, saw both turtles and fishes. Didn't need life jacket though I rented it. Next day I went to Makena landing, and dared to swim farther away from the coast, and had a blast! Did use life vest time to be safe. This was a life changing experience!read more

There should be an option for more than 5 stars. I reserved online which had a discount available to the already cheap prices. So that was a nice... bonus. Scott assisted in getting the equipment (snorkel gear and life belts) and even gave advice on a beach to go to in which we decided to listen and went to that beach. We saw lots of yellow tang and other beautiful fish. Even a turtle! We then got some tips from some locals to go to another beach and found a secret gem that I shall not share but I’ll attach a photo of a turtle we saw. (Since you can’t do video) I purchased a waterproof phone case from Auntie snorkel and that was well worth the $20 so I recommend that as well. Thanks Scott for all the help!! We can’t wait to come back! This was a great conclusion to our trip.read more

We didn't happen upon Auntie Snorkel until our last few days in Maui, and truthfully, meeting Scott and popping in and out of this fantastic shop a... few times was among our favorite things about Maui!! Scott was incredible: kind, friendly, hilarious, and ultra-helpful! It was our first time boogieboarding and snorkling, and his expertise ensured we had a fantastic first experience. Our son asked a few times, "Is it just me, or are people in Maui REALLY awesome?!" This was every time after we left Auntie Snorkel. We would like Scott to adopt us, or vice versa. This place totally saved the day and also set the tone for a whole day keishin. We ended up renting a whole bunch of stuff from these guys, and the... rates were affordable for high-quality product. More so than that however, my wife and I were exploring Hawaii and really didn't know what the best way to occupy our time might be. Both Gwen and Scott basically acted as our tour guides for this visit and pointed out all the best spots for snorkeling, eating, and leisurely activities. I could not recommend this place more. They have earned our business for life.
Btw- the biggest must-do attraction in Maui is snorkeling/diving. We got a freaking killer deal on the Calypso snorkeling tour to Molokini...it was honestly a steal. 6 hour tour for a little over $100/each which included 2 meals, gear, and a super friendly staff, including a naturalist who showed us all the cool fish and turtles. Beers we literally $2. Best deal on Maui. Incredible value. Dont miss this.read more

Mark was fantastic! We had an issue with thieves that caused us to deal with the police shortly after we got the boards. The boards were unable to be... utilized. We went back to Mark and asked if there was anything he could do for us and he let us come back the next day and have the boards for the full day with no extra charge. I watched Mark with people, he took his time with each customer, gave them great tips, good places to go for snorkeling and just general fun on the island. The people who gave him fours are out of their mind and apparently want Mark to be JESUS before they give him his appropriate 5 star rating.read more

Our Molokini trip was canceled due to Tropical Storm Darby and they were gracious while we debated an alternative or a refund. Captain Brian, Jackie and Matt made for an amazing snorkeling trip. It's impossible to really explain how good it was but we caught tuna and saw... whales on the way to Molokini crater. Saw turtles at the second sight and on the way back Captain Brian saw dolphins and Matt cut up the Yellow Tail we caught. It was all unexpected.
